仙台塩釜港石巻港区
石巻市は、古くから港町でしたが、1620年代に伊達政宗の命を受けた川村孫兵衛により河道が開削されて以来、米穀の積出地として繁栄。1960年河口西方の釜地区の新港建設に着手、1964年には、新産業都市仙台湾地区の指定を受けるとともに重要港湾の指定を受け、県北部の拠点港として整備が進められた。
