Fukue Port
The Goto Islands consist of 140 large and small islands, most of which are designated as Saikai National Park. Blessed with a beautiful sea and rich nature, the area also boasts many historical sites. It served as the last port of call for envoy ships to Tang China during the Nara and Heian periods, and continued to flourish as a hub for overseas trade from the medieval period onward. During the Edo period, many hidden Christians settled here, leaving behind numerous historical heritage sites, including churches and temples.
