Funakawa Port
Funakawa Port is located in the southern part of the Oga Peninsula. Surrounded by reefs, it experiences little wave action, and the mountainous terrain to the northwest, including Mt. Shinzan, blocks the northwest winds characteristic of the Sea of Japan. It has long been used as a "wind-waiting port" and a "refuge port." The berths where cruise ships call are located about 1 km south of Oga Station, utilizing two berths: the 15,000-ton berth (185m, -10m) and the adjacent 7,000-ton berth (145m, -8m). Furthermore, since Funakawa Port is located on the Oga Peninsula, which boasts many tourist attractions, access to sightseeing in Oga is excellent. In particular, at the Oga Shinzan Denshokan, visitors can watch a reenactment of the Namahage event, a folk ritual known throughout Japan.
