Iwakuni Port

Iwakuni Port is located at the easternmost point of Yamaguchi Prefecture, and together with the neighboring Otake City in Hiroshima Prefecture, it plays an important role as a gateway port for the ever-developing Iwakuni and Waki areas, serving as one of the hubs of the Seto Inland Sea industrial region. The history of this port dates back to 1600, when the Iwakuni Domain constructed a landing facility for its naval forces at the mouth of the Imazu River, and in recent years it has developed into an industrial port bearing part of the responsibility for the Seto Inland Sea industrial region.
