Kumamoto

Yatsushiro Port

Located at the mouth of the Kuma River, one of Japan's three major rapid rivers, on the west coast of central Kyushu, Yatsushiro Port has developed since ancient times as a center for the collection and distribution of abundant agricultural, forestry, and marine products, as well as a strategic hub for overseas trade. Since being developed as a modern port in the Meiji era and equipped with functions as a maritime transportation base, many companies have established operations there, making Yatsushiro the leading industrial city in southern Kyushu.
